Darshan Safety Zone · Ras Laffan hot work
Ras Laffan names what the blanket is doing before it names the code
A cloth that stays down on a shutdown vessel is not the cloth on a shorter cooling-water pipe, and neither is the non-metallic cloth beside switchgear. Berth grinding that stays under the blanket is thicker again. The port work is loading equipment and quay steel. Ahmedabad makes the blanket after the code is on the quotation. Dispatch follows that acceptance. Duties stay with the buyer.
Heavy slag, then the spark cloth
The first card is DSZVCF. The second is DSZMDWB2.4, and it is only for spark beside electrical gear. The guide picks which heavy roll.
Five jobs, five starts
- 1
Stays down on a shutdown vessel or spool
DSZVCF4.0. 4.0 mm, 1700 GSM, 1260 °C to 1760 °C.
- 2
Covers a shorter pipe, including cooling-water lines
DSZVCF3.2. 3.2 mm, 1500 GSM, the same heavy band.
- 3
Covers a corridor tie-in and the pipe beside it
DSZVCF3.0. Still heavy. A different thickness from the cloth that stays down.
- 4
Sits beside switchgear and cable
DSZMDWB2.4. Non-metallic, 2.4 mm, 900 °C to 1000 °C.
- 5
Stays under grinding on berth steel
DSZVCF5.0. A shorter cover on that berth can be DSZVCF3.2.
Welding Blanket
Heavy DSZVCF or medium-duty DSZMDWB2.4 for spark, spatter and slag on Ras Laffan LNG and petrochemical maintenance.

The other Qatar orders
Mesaieed is a closed aluminium coat, and the layer changes with how long the wearer stands.Al Wakrah is silicone cloth for a workshop curtain, screen, fixed shield or removable cover. Liquefaction, utilities and berths describe the hot work. They are not a claim that QatarEnergy, Qatargas, Qatalum, or any other company buys the blanket.
Frequently asked questions
What blanket starts a Ras Laffan slag job?
A heavy DSZVCF vermiculite cloth. A vessel or spool that stays covered through a shutdown starts at DSZVCF4.0. A shorter pipe cover, including cooling-water lines, starts at DSZVCF3.2. The guide holds the rest of the roll.
Why is a pipeline-corridor tie-in not the same code?
Corridor flange and tie-in welds start at DSZVCF3.0, a cover wide enough for the joint and the pipe beside it. That is still the heavy family. It is a different thickness from the shutdown cloth that stays down.
When does Ras Laffan leave the heavy family?
Spark and spatter beside switchgear and cable, where the listed build is non-metallic. That is DSZMDWB2.4, 900 °C to 1000 °C. Structural cutting in the same power block stays a separate DSZVCF line.
What about grinding on a berth?
A cloth left down under grinding on loading equipment or quay steel starts at DSZVCF5.0. A shorter cover on that berth can be DSZVCF3.2. The berths are maintenance of loading gear, not a ship-repair yard.
Is Mesaieed’s coat, or Al Wakrah’s silicone cloth, this blanket?
No. Mesaieed is a closed aluminium coat on the body, DSZALC, sold per piece. Al Wakrah is silicone fiberglass cloth by the square metre for a shop curtain or cover. Ras Laffan is a welding blanket for slag or spark.
Where is the blanket made?
At the Ahmedabad factory. Ras Laffan has no Darshan Safety Zone shelf. The quotation is manufactured, then shipped. Duties and import taxes are the buyer’s. No arrival day is stated.
Do you name a Ras Laffan operator as a customer?
No. Liquefaction, cooling water, corridors, power, water plants and berths describe the hot work. The page does not say that QatarEnergy, Qatargas, Qatalum, or any other company buys the blanket, and it does not claim a hazardous-area or civil-defence approval.
What goes on the Ras Laffan line?
Heavy or medium, the code, and whether the cloth stays down, covers a shorter pipe, covers a corridor joint, sits beside switchgear, or stays under grinding. Leave coats and silicone shop cloth off this line.
Say whether the Ras Laffan cloth stays down
Shutdown, short pipe, corridor joint, switchgear, or berth grinding. Ahmedabad weaves the blanket. No arrival day is stated for Ras Laffan.
