Signature Fiberglass Tape

No. Every model is listed with no coating — there is no adhesive backing. It is woven white fiberglass tape you wrap and secure, not peel-and-stick. If you need a sticky tape, you are looking at a different product.

Wrap it under tension and secure the ends the way your job method calls for — overlapping turns, tie wire, lacing cord or a clamp. On pipe and cable work the overlap itself does most of the holding once the run is pulled tight.

High-temperature wrap and bind on pipes, cables, flanges and hot equipment — furnace, boiler and FG Product detailing where you want plain fiberglass without a coated face. White, uncoated tape for dry heat work up to 900 °C.

Ten builds in total. 3 mm section: DSZFTP3.25, DSZFTP3.40, DSZFTP3.50, DSZFTP3.75 and DSZFTP3.100 at 25, 40, 50, 75 and 100 mm widths. 5 mm section: DSZFTP5.25, DSZFTP5.50, DSZFTP5.75 and DSZFTP5.100 at 25, 50, 75 and 100 mm. Plus DSZFTP7M50 — thin 7 MIL × 50 mm × 50 m roll at 460 g. All white, no coating, 550 °C to 900 °C, sold per kilogram.

The thin-gauge option — 7 MIL thick, 50 mm wide, supplied as a 50 metre roll at about 460 grams. The DSZFTP3 and DSZFTP5 models are substantial woven tapes for lagging and binding in 30 m coils. DSZFTP7M50 is light enough for detail wrapping and comes as a whole roll rather than by weight.

It depends on width and section thickness because you are buying by weight. Examples from the specification: 25 × 3 mm gives roughly 15 m per kg, 50 × 3 mm about 7 m, 100 × 5 mm around 1.5 m. Work out the run length you need first, then convert using the figure on the model you select.

550 °C to 900 °C on every model, including DSZFTP7M50. Width and thickness change how much insulating mass you get, not the temperature the glass fibre withstands.

Match the width to what you are covering. Narrow 25 and 40 mm tapes follow small-bore pipe, bends and cable runs without bunching. 75 and 100 mm cover ground faster on larger pipe and flat surfaces with fewer turns. Going too wide on a tight radius creates creases and gaps.

5 mm puts more material between the heat and what you are protecting and takes more abuse in service. 3 mm is easier to pull tight around awkward shapes and gives more metres per kilogram — the more commonly stocked section for general lagging.

Insulation Tape is silicone coated, grey, 25 mm × 20 m, sold per kg under Insulation Cloths — DSZSFG0.6, not DSZFTP. This is plain uncoated white fiberglass in multiple widths and sections under FG Product. Cheaper per metre for dry heat work, but without a coated face to resist oil, moisture or splash.

Only when the heat goes past 900 °C. Our Ceramic Fiber Tape runs 1260 °C to 1760 °C for kiln, furnace and refractory duty. For steam lines, boiler detailing and general lagging below 900 °C this fiberglass tape does the job for less — no point paying for ceramic unless the temperature calls for it.

Look for tears, fraying or contamination on the roll, especially if it has been in store for a while. Keep rolls dry and off the floor — uncoated fiberglass picks up moisture and oil, and a contaminated tape is what causes smoke and smell on first heat-up.
