Signature aluminium coat · Visakhapatnam

Aluminium coats for Visakhapatnam steel plant heat zones

At a tap hole, a converter mouth or a reheating-furnace door, radiant heat reaches the whole body, not just the hands. The Signature Aluminium Coat is the closed body layer of an aluminized kit. It comes in four builds, DSZALC.2L to DSZALC.5L, all free size and listed at 700 °C to 900 °C. This page shows how to choose layers for each unit, how the coat fits with gloves, an apron or a proximity suit, and how to order for a whole crew. We make it at our Ahmedabad factory and dispatch to Visakhapatnam.

Visakhapatnam steel-plant areas where crews wear aluminium coats

The integrated steel works at Ukkunagaram, Gajuwaka, makes steel by the blast furnace and basic oxygen route. Each unit along that route has its own heat source and its own pattern of work near it. The coat is the same everywhere; the layer count depends on how long the crew stays in the heat and how much they move.

  • Blast furnace cast houses

    Ukkunagaram steel zone, Gajuwaka

    Heat source:
Hot metal and slag tapped from the tap hole and run along the cast-house floor
    Typical use:
Tap-hole opening and closing, runner and trough work, and slag-side tasks. The crew stands facing the stream for long stretches, so the whole front, arms and sides take radiant heat.

    Start with: DSZALC.4L or DSZALC.5L

  • Steel melt shops — LD converters

    Ukkunagaram steel zone, Gajuwaka

    Heat source:
Basic oxygen converters, tapping into ladles
    Typical use:
Sampling, temperature checks and tapping-side tasks near the converter mouth and ladle. The time spent near the heat changes from one task to the next, so plan the layer mix per task.

Start with: DSZALC.3L to DSZALC.5L by task

  • Continuous casting bays

    Ukkunagaram steel zone, Gajuwaka

    Heat source:
Ladle, tundish and the bloom, billet and round caster strands
    Typical use:
Ladle changes and tundish-area work done in bursts, plus checks along the hot strand. Crews move a lot here, so weight matters as much as insulation.

    Start with: DSZALC.2L or DSZALC.3L

  • Rolling mill reheating furnaces

    Ukkunagaram steel zone, Gajuwaka

    Heat source:
Walking beam reheating furnaces feeding the bar, wire rod and structural mills
    Typical use:
Short checks at furnace doors and the discharge end, and hot-stock inspection. Most tasks are brief, so a lighter coat keeps the crew mobile.

    Start with: DSZALC.2L

  • Sinter plant

    Ukkunagaram steel zone, Gajuwaka

    Heat source:
Sinter machines and the hot sinter discharge
    Typical use:
Inspection and maintenance near the ignition and discharge areas while the line is hot. Choose the layers by how long each job keeps the crew there.

Start with: DSZALC.2L to DSZALC.4L by duration

  • Autonagar industrial estate

    APIIC engineering estate, Gajuwaka mandal

    Heat source:
Engineering and fabrication units serving the heavy-industry belt
    Typical use:
Contractor crews sent into furnace and casting areas for maintenance and shutdown work. Each contractor crew needs its own coats, ordered by its own head count.

    Start with: DSZALC.3L or DSZALC.4L

Choosing the layer count for each task

The listed temperature is the same on every build, so layers are a choice between insulation and mobility. Use the row closest to the task as a starting point. Your site PPE procedure has the final say.

Fitting, checking and storing the coats

A coat only protects if it fits and its reflective face is intact. Build these four steps into the shift routine for every unit that issues coats.

  1. Step 1

    Fit before entry

Check the cuffs, hem and closure on the wearer. Wear the coated face outward, with aluminized gloves on the hands.

  2. Step 2

    Inspect before each use

Look over the aluminium face and every seam before anyone walks into the cast house, converter bay or furnace area.

  3. Step 3

    Retire straight away

Replace the coat if the coating is cracked, peeled or worn through. A damaged face gives less protection than it appears to.

  4. Step 4

    Store between shifts

Keep coats dry, hung or laid flat. Avoid sharp folds, which crack the reflective face along the crease.

Ordering coats for steel-plant crews

Steel plants and their contractors usually issue coats to every crew member who enters a heat zone, often with different layer builds by unit. These six details let us quote the whole order without a round of questions.

Models and quantities
Each layer build on its own line, for example DSZALC.2L for mill crews and DSZALC.5L for cast-house crews.
People per shift, by unit
How many people enter the heat zone on each shift in the cast house, melt shop, caster bay or mill.
Spares
Extra coats, so one that fails its pre-use check is retired on the spot.
Rest of the kit
Glove pairs, apron lines or proximity suits to quote on the same order.
Paperwork
Any compliance documents your purchase procedure needs, so we can confirm what we can supply.
Delivery pin and date
Visakhapatnam plant, contractor or stores address, plus any required-by date.

Frequently asked questions

Answers for Visakhapatnam buyers ordering Signature aluminium coats.

Which aluminium coat suits cast-house and converter work in a Visakhapatnam steel plant?

The Signature Aluminium Coat comes in four builds, DSZALC.2L to DSZALC.5L. All four are aluminium coated, silver, free size and listed at 700 °C to 900 °C. The difference is layers and weight. Sites usually choose four or five layers when people stand in radiant heat for longer stretches, and two or three layers for shorter tasks where moving quickly matters more.

How do we choose between the 2-layer and 5-layer coat?

Trade insulating mass against weight and mobility. DSZALC.2L is about 5 kg, DSZALC.3L about 6 kg, DSZALC.4L about 7 kg and DSZALC.5L about 8 kg. The listed temperature is the same on all four, so the choice depends on how long the wearer stays in the heat and how much moving and climbing the job involves.

Aluminium coat or fire proximity suit for steel-plant heat work?

The Signature Fire Proximity Suit (DSZAL.2LS to DSZAL.5LS, listed at 600 °C to 1000 °C) is the full suit for sustained close work near intense heat. The coat is the closed body layer for general aluminized PPE, where a coat with gloves, and an apron where needed, is enough for the task. Your site PPE procedure decides which one each job needs.

Aluminium coat or aluminized apron?

The coat wraps the body, arms and back and is listed at 700 °C to 900 °C. The Signature Aluminized Apron (DSZALAP2.0 to DSZALAP5.0, 24 × 36 inch, listed at 600 °C to 800 °C) covers the front only. Use the apron for front-facing bench work and the coat when heat reaches the sides, arms and back.

How is this coat different from the Signature Back Open Coat?

The DSZALC coat is closed, with full wrap-around coverage, and is listed at 700 °C to 900 °C. The back-open coat leaves the back open for quicker on-and-off and ventilation, has a pure aluminium foil face and is listed at 600 °C to 800 °C. Choose the closed coat when you want full body coverage in the higher band.

Does the coat carry EN 469 or another product certification?

No product standard such as EN 469 is listed for the DSZALC coat, and we do not claim one. Darshan Safety Zone is ISO 9001:2015 certified at company level. If your purchase procedure needs specific compliance paperwork, share the requirement with your enquiry and we will confirm what we can supply for the build you need.

Will one free-size coat fit our whole crew?

Every DSZALC model is free size, cut to go over work clothing. Before anyone enters the heat zone, check the cuffs, hem and closure on the wearer, because a coat that gapes is not protecting the body. If your programme needs something other than the four listed builds, ask before ordering.

How many coats should a shift-based crew order?

Count the people who enter the radiant-heat area on each shift, by unit: cast house, converter or caster bay, or reheating furnace. Then add spares so a coat that fails its pre-use check can be retired at once. Put each layer build on its own line of the quotation.

How should coats be stored and retired in Visakhapatnam's humid climate?

Store coats dry, hung or laid flat, and avoid sharp folds that crack the reflective face along a crease. Before each use, look over the aluminium face and the seams. Retire a coat when the coating is cracked, peeled or worn through.

Do you keep coats in stock in Visakhapatnam, and how fast can you dispatch?

No. Darshan Safety Zone makes Signature aluminized PPE at our factory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and dispatches to the plant, contractor or stores address on the order. We do not have a branch, dealer or warehouse in Andhra Pradesh. Dispatch timing depends on models and quantities, so we confirm it on the quotation.

Need aluminium coats for a Visakhapatnam steel crew?

Send the layer builds and quantities, the people per shift, any gloves, aprons or suits, and the delivery pin. We will quote the full kit from our Ahmedabad factory.
