Signature aluminum gloves · Kolkata & Howrah

Aluminum gloves for Howrah foundry and furnace crews

Tapping a cupola, pouring a ladle or pulling a hot billet puts the hands closest to the radiant heat. Signature Aluminum Gloves DSZALHG are the hand layer of an aluminized kit: a silver, 2-layer aluminum-coated glove, 14 inch long and sold per pair. This page shows where they fit beside a coat or apron, and how to order them for a whole crew. We make them at our Ahmedabad factory and dispatch them to Kolkata and Howrah.

Howrah foundry and furnace areas where aluminum gloves are used

Most of West Bengal's foundries sit in Howrah, across the Hooghly from Kolkata. Most melt iron in coke-fired cupolas and some use induction furnaces. Re-rolling mills and a dedicated foundry park add reheating furnaces and new melt shops. The glove stays the same in each area; what changes is the body layer worn with it.

  • Liluah and Belgachia

    Foundry and re-rolling localities, Howrah

    Main industries:
Iron foundries and the Liluah re-rolling mill cluster
    Typical use:
Cupola tapping and ladle handling on foundry floors, and hot bar and billet handling around re-rolling reheating furnaces. Hands are close to the heat source and need a full grip on tongs.

  • Salkia

Foundry locality in the Howrah cluster

    Main industries:
    Iron foundries and casting finishing
    Typical use:
Melting, pouring and moving hot castings off the moulding floor. Crews switch between ladle work and handling castings, so the gloves have to keep finger movement.

  • Dasnagar and Balitikuri

    Foundry and engineering localities, Howrah

    Main industries:
    Iron foundries alongside engineering units
    Typical use:
Melt shops next to engineering and fabrication work. Knock-out and fettling of hot castings at the bench is front-facing work, where an apron can be enough for the body.

Start with: DSZALHG with the Aluminized Apron

  • Jangalpur and Santragachi

Foundry localities in the Howrah cluster

    Main industries:
Iron foundries in the Howrah cluster
    Typical use:
Cupola charging, tapping and pouring for repeat casting runs. The gloves see heavy daily wear, so the reorder cycle matters as much as the first issue.

Start with: DSZALHG with the Aluminium Coat

  • Foundry Park, Ranihati–Amta Road

Organised foundry park, Panchla–Jagatballavpur, Howrah district

    Main industries:
Foundry and light-engineering units in a dedicated park
    Typical use:
New and expanding melt shops. When a new unit equips a crew from scratch, quote the gloves and the coats or aprons together on one order.

Start with: DSZALHG with the Aluminium Coat

  • Uluberia Industrial Park

    WBIIDC industrial park, Howrah district

    Main industries:
Iron and steel casting, engineering and general manufacturing
    Typical use:
Casting-side work and plant maintenance near furnaces. Choose a coat when the whole body faces the heat, or an apron for front-facing work.

The specifications that decide the order

These are the listed specifications for the gloves and the two body layers worn with them. No working temperature is listed for DSZALHG, so we do not quote one here. Plan exposure against the whole kit and your site limits. To compare temperature figures across suppliers, read our guide to reading temperature ratings.

Signature Aluminum Gloves are wear-on hand PPE. They are a different product from Signature Aluminum FG Cloth, which is an insulation fabric for lagging pipes and equipment.

Checking, retiring and storing the gloves

A worn reflective face gives less protection than it appears to. On a foundry floor, abrasion usually ends a pair's life before heat does.

  1. Step 1

    Before each shift

Look over the aluminum face and every seam before anyone enters the heat zone. Put the gloves on and check grip and finger movement.

  2. Step 2

    Retire straight away

Replace the pair if the coating is cracked, peeled or worn through, if a seam has opened, or if the gloves no longer flex cleanly.

  3. Step 3

    Watch the abrasion

Rough castings, scrap edges, sand and tongs scrape the reflective face faster than heat does. Keep spare pairs on the floor.

  4. Step 4

    Store between shifts

Keep the gloves dry, away from oil and away from sharp edges that could scrape the coating.

Ordering gloves for a whole crew

Gloves are issued per person and replaced often, so foundries usually order them in bulk. These six details let us quote a crew-wide order without a round of questions.

Model and pairs
DSZALHG and the number of pairs. The gloves come in one build, so the count is what matters.
People per shift
How many people enter the heat zone on each shift, so the order covers every crew.
Spares
Extra pairs, so a glove that fails its pre-use check is replaced on the spot.
Body layer
Coat or apron lines, each with its layer model, if the crew needs body cover too.
The work
Cupola melting, induction melting, re-rolling, casting finishing or proximity-suit reorders.
Delivery pin and date
Kolkata or Howrah address, plus any required-by date.

Frequently asked questions

Answers for Kolkata and Howrah buyers ordering Signature aluminum gloves.

Which aluminum glove should a Howrah foundry specify for cupola and ladle work?

Signature Aluminum Gloves come in one build, DSZALHG: silver, aluminum coated, 2 layer, 14 inch long and sold per pair. Name DSZALHG on the purchase order so stores receive the same glove every time. The five-finger form keeps grip and finger movement for tongs, clamps and ladle handling near the cupola or induction furnace.

Is a working temperature listed for DSZALHG?

No. Our current specification for DSZALHG does not list a working temperature, so we do not quote one. The temperature figures on the Signature Aluminium Coat and Signature Aluminized Apron belong to those garments and do not transfer to the gloves. Plan heat exposure against your full aluminized kit and your site's own limits.

Do the gloves carry an EN or IS certification?

No glove-specific EN or IS standard is listed for DSZALHG, and we do not claim one. Darshan Safety Zone holds ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality management system; that is a company-level certificate, not a product test standard for these gloves. If your purchase procedure requires a named glove standard, tell us before you order.

Can furnace or tapping crews wear the gloves on their own?

No. DSZALHG is the hand layer only. Someone reaching toward a cupola spout, ladle or hot billet also has radiant heat on the torso and arms, so wear the gloves with an aluminized coat or apron as your site HSE procedure requires.

Coat or apron with the gloves in a Howrah melt shop?

Use the Signature Aluminium Coat when the crew needs full-body cover: DSZALC.2L to DSZALC.5L, 2 to 5 layers, free size, listed at 700 °C to 900 °C. Use the Signature Aluminized Apron for front-facing work at a pour or bench: DSZALAP2.0 to DSZALAP5.0, 24 × 36 inch, listed at 600 °C to 800 °C. Either way, add DSZALHG for the hands.

How many pairs should we order for a shift-based foundry crew?

Count the people who enter the heat zone on each shift and give each of them a pair. Then add spares, so a pair that fails its pre-use check can be retired straight away instead of being worn for the rest of the shift. Put the total on one quotation, and add the coats or aprons on separate lines.

Can we reorder gloves for an existing fire proximity suit kit?

Yes. The Signature Fire Proximity Suit kit includes a pair of five-finger gloves from the same accessory family. When the kit gloves wear out, order DSZALHG as a standalone pair. You do not need to reorder the whole suit.

What wears out aluminum gloves fastest on a foundry floor?

Scraping and abrasion. Rough castings, scrap edges, sand and tongs all scrape the reflective face. Check the aluminum face and the seams before each use. Retire the pair if the coating is cracked, peeled or worn through, if seams have opened, or if the gloves no longer flex cleanly. Store them dry and away from oil and sharp edges.

Do you keep glove stock in Kolkata or Howrah, and how fast can you dispatch?

We do not keep stock or have a branch, dealer or warehouse in West Bengal. Darshan Safety Zone makes Signature aluminized PPE in Ahmedabad and dispatches orders to Kolkata and Howrah addresses. Dispatch timing depends on quantities, so we confirm it on the quotation. Put your required-by date on the request.

What should a Howrah aluminum glove quotation include?

Include the model (DSZALHG), the number of pairs, and the work: cupola melting, induction melting, re-rolling or proximity-suit reorders. Add any coats or aprons as separate lines with their layer models, then the delivery pin in Kolkata or Howrah and your required-by date.

Need aluminum gloves for a Howrah melt shop?

Send the number of pairs, the people per shift, any coat or apron lines and the delivery pin. We will quote the full kit from our Ahmedabad factory.
