Signature Insulation Tape · Secunda

Insulation tape for Secunda shutdown pipe and flange wrap

A plant-maintenance contractor on a Secunda shutdown wraps Signature Insulation Tape on process pipes, steam lines and flanges. One model is listed: DSZSFG0.6, silicone-coated fiberglass, gray, 0.6 mm, 25 mm × 20 m, 1 kg, rated 550 °C to 900 °C. You order it by the kilogram. We make the tape in Ahmedabad and ship it on the order.

Wrap and seal during the shutdown

The shutdown job is a narrow wrap, not a cloth panel. DSZSFG0.6 covers a process-pipe run, a steam line, a flange and an expansion gap when the duty sits inside 550 °C to 900 °C. The silicone face is what you specify when the wrap sees oil, moisture or repeated handling. Cloth is the wrong width for a flange. This tape is 25 mm.

How the spiral goes on

Clean and dry the pipe or the flange first. Spiral the tape under tension so each turn overlaps the last by about a third of the 25 mm width. Secure the ends the way the site method calls for. It is not a peel-and-stick tape. Loose turns and thin spots are where heat gets through.

Before the window opens, check the roll for tears, fraying or oil. A damp or oily silicone face can smoke on first heat-up. Keep the kilograms dry and off the floor. If the coated face is already cracked, replace that section. Do not patch a worn wrap onto a line that is about to go hot.

Towns around the Secunda plant area

Govan Mbeki’s spatial framework treats Secunda, Trichardt, Evander, Kinross and Embalenhle as one Greater Secunda group, and it records a petrochemicals park at Secunda. The rows are how a shutdown contractor uses the same roll. The list is not a record of who buys from us.

Silicone on this roll, ceramic fiber on another

DSZSFG0.6 is silicone-coated fiberglass. Do not write it up as ceramic fiber tape. Stay on it inside 550 °C to 900 °C. Move to Signature Ceramic Fiber Tape when the line is above 900 °C. Those white DSZCTP coils are listed at 1260 °C to 1760 °C. Move to Signature Fiberglass Tape when the wrap can be uncoated white DSZFTP on a dry line in the same 550 °C to 900 °C band. All three are sold by the kilogram. The temperature-rating guide is the check before a ceramic band is copied onto this silicone roll.

Questions from Secunda shutdown contractors

What tape does a Secunda shutdown crew wrap with?

Signature Insulation Tape, model DSZSFG0.6. It is silicone-coated fiberglass tape, gray, 0.6 mm thick, 25 mm wide by 20 metres, listed at 1 kg and at 550 °C to 900 °C. It is the narrow wrap for process pipes, steam lines, flanges and expansion gaps. It is not ceramic fiber tape.

How is the roll ordered?

By the kilogram. The listed roll is 1 kg at 25 mm × 20 m. Name DSZSFG0.6 and the kilograms the shutdown needs. An export order is placed on a quotation.

Is the tape self-adhesive?

No. It is a wrap tape, not a peel-and-stick product. Spiral it under tension around the pipe or the flange and secure the ends the way the site method calls for, with wire, lacing or overlap tension.

How should the spiral sit on a pipe?

Clean and dry the surface first. Run the tape in a spiral so each turn overlaps the last by about a third of the width. Keep steady tension so it beds down without gaps. Loose turns are where heat gets through.

When is this the wrong tape?

When the line is above 900 °C, or the joint is a furnace or refractory seal. Ceramic fiber tape is a different product, listed at 1260 °C to 1760 °C. Uncoated white fiberglass tape is the dry wrap when the silicone face is not required. Both are sold by the kilogram. Stay on DSZSFG0.6 when the duty sits inside 550 °C to 900 °C and the spec calls for a silicone-coated wrap.

Can the width or the length change?

The listed build is 25 mm × 20 m at 0.6 mm. The product is marked customizable. Tell us the width, length or quantity on the quotation and we will confirm what can be supplied. Do not assume an unlisted size is a catalogue code.

What should stores check before a shutdown?

Tears, fraying or contamination on the roll. Silicone-coated tape that has picked up oil or moisture can smoke on first heat-up. Keep rolls dry and off the floor. Once the coated face is cracked or the edges are fraying, replace the section. Do not patch over a worn wrap on a hot line.

Is there a warehouse in South Africa or a stated arrival day?

No. Darshan Safety Zone manufactures the tape in Ahmedabad and ships it on the order. There is no warehouse, branch or shelf in Secunda or elsewhere in South Africa, and we do not state a South Africa arrival day. Transit follows freight and customs. Need this urgently? Contact our sales team to discuss your requirement and available dispatch options.

Who pays duty, and is a named plant our customer?

Import duties and customs are yours. This page describes tape that plant-maintenance contractors use on process pipes, steam lines and flanges during a Secunda shutdown. It does not name a company as a Darshan Safety Zone customer. No hazardous-area approval is listed. ISO 9001:2015 is our company quality system, not a tape certification.
