Packing and sealing where the heat is beyond fiberglass — furnace and kiln door seals, boiler and refractory joint caulking, expansion gaps between bricks or modules, and penetrations around burners and thermocouples. White ceramic fibre rope that compresses into a groove to hold a high-temperature seal.

1260 °C to 1760 °C on every DSZCRP diameter from 6 mm to 50 mm. Diameter changes how much rope you have in the joint, not the temperature the ceramic fibre withstands.

Measure the groove or gap and pick a rope that has to squeeze slightly to sit in it — that compression is what makes the seal. Ten models run DSZCRP6 at 6 mm through DSZCRP50 at 50 mm, so you can usually get within a millimetre or two of your measurement.

Both are available on every diameter. Square section beds flat into a rectangular channel and is the usual pick for kiln and furnace door grooves. Round works better into curved grooves and irregular gaps. Confirm which profile you want when you place the order.

It depends on diameter because you buy by weight. A 5 kg coil gives roughly 180 m at 6 mm, about 80 m at 10 mm and around 40 m at 12 mm. From 25 mm up, coils are 25 kg — roughly 50 m at 25 mm down to about 12 m at 50 mm. Ceramic rope goes further per kilo than fiberglass rope, so do not size an order from DSZFR experience.

6 mm to 19 mm diameters come on 5 kg or 10 kg coils for smaller jobs. From 25 mm up it is 25 kg coils only — heavier rope needs the larger coil to be a useful length.

and does it contain asbestos?, No asbestos — ceramic fibre is the standard non-asbestos material for this work. It is still a high-temperature mineral fibre, and the real dust risk is usually raking out old packing that has gone brittle and crumbly rather than fitting the new rope. Wear gloves, follow your site procedure for ceramic fibre, and keep dust down while you strip the old seal.

No — the current DSZCRP range is plain white ceramic fibre with no metallic or non-metallic reinforcement option. Our ceramic fabric offers stainless reinforced builds, but this rope does not. Ask us if reinforcement is a hard requirement for your application.

Same material family, three formats for three jobs. Rope is a solid section that packs into a groove or gap. Tape is flat and wraps. Fabric is cloth you cut to shape for lagging and barriers. Sealing a door or manway — you want the rope.

When it stops filling the groove. Compressed and heat-cycled rope goes hard and thin, and the door leaks even though the rope is still physically there. Strip it out and repack rather than trying to top up a joint in sections.

When the heat goes past 900 °C. Our fiberglass rope tops out at 900 °C; this ceramic rope runs 1260 °C to 1760 °C for kiln, furnace and refractory duty. For boiler and oven seal work below 900 °C the fiberglass rope is the sensible spend.
