Signature Ceramic Fiber Fabric

Stainless steel strands are worked into the yarn alongside the ceramic fibre. Ceramic fibre on its own is strong against heat but slack under tension, so the steel gives the cloth body and tear resistance — it survives being pulled tight, refitted and knocked about in service instead of stretching out of shape. Most models on this product are built that way.

Pick it when steel in the weave is a problem rather than a help — work around live electrical equipment, induction heating, or jobs where you cannot risk metal contamination or marking on the surface underneath. It is the same 3.0 mm and 1000 GSM as the standard DSZCF3.0, just built as plain ceramic cloth without the reinforcement.

Both share the same 1760 °C upper figure, but the 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm builds start their range at 1000 °C rather than 1260 °C because there is less material to carry sustained heat. If your duty sits in that 1000 to 1260 °C band, go to 3.0 mm or above rather than assuming the thin cloth covers it.

Seven builds from 1.5 mm up to 6.0 mm — 1.5, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0 mm, with weights running 800 GSM at the thin end to 3500 GSM on DSZCF6.0. There is also DSZCF3.0P, a denser version of the 3.0 mm.

Same 3.0 mm thickness, but the P build is 1500 GSM against 1000 GSM — a tighter, denser cloth in the same nominal thickness. It is the one to specify when a 3.0 mm fabric has previously worn through too quickly on you or when the spec calls for more mass without going to 4.0 mm.

Enter the length and width you need in metres and it is supplied cut to that, priced by the square metre. The roll figures in the specification are reference formats — 1 × 30 m on most models and 1 × 20 m on DSZCF6.0 — not minimum orders.

No. This is ceramic fibre, which is the standard non-asbestos replacement for legacy asbestos cloth in furnace and foundry work. It is still a high-temperature mineral fibre though, so handle and cut it under your site procedure for ceramic fibre materials and keep dust down.

The model numbers overlap, which catches people out. This product is fabric sold by the square metre and cut to your dimensions, while the fire blanket is supplied as finished pieces by the number. Same family of material, different thing to order — check which one your spec means.

The graphite coated version has a sealed, harder-wearing surface and sheds fewer fibres in handling. This uncoated white cloth is the choice for straightforward insulation and barrier work, and the metallic reinforcement already covers you on strength where the coated fabric relies on its surface.

Yes, though the stainless strands mean ordinary scissors will struggle — use decent shears or snips. Cut it to your installation as normal, wearing gloves and following your site procedure for high-temperature fibre.

Wear rather than heat, almost always. Check for thinning or worn-through patches where the cloth rubs, and on reinforced builds look for broken steel strands or fraying at cut edges. Store rolls dry and off the floor, and take material out of service once it has worn through rather than patching over it.
