Signature insulation tape · Visakhapatnam & Anakapalli
A Malkapuram turnaround or a Parawada boiler overhaul ends with a long list of flanges, valves and lagging ends to close up before the plant restarts. Signature Insulation Tape DSZSFG0.6 is the gray, silicone-coated fiberglass tape for that job, listed at 550 °C to 900 °C. We make it in Ahmedabad and sell it by the kilogram, one 20 m roll to each kilogram.

Most of the city's high-temperature pipework sits in a few places: the refinery at Malkapuram, the oil berths in the port, two coal-fired power stations on the coast and the steam-heavy estates at Parawada and Ukkunagaram. The tape does the same job in each of them. The difference is when the job comes round.
| Area | Lines and when they get wrapped | Tape to order | Order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Malkapuram refinery complexFuel refinery, Visakhapatnam (Urban) | Crude and vacuum distillation, hydroprocessing, hydrogen and sulphur-recovery units with a captive power plant. A planned turnaround strips flange and valve insulation for inspection, and every joint has to be closed again before the units come back on line. | DSZSFG0.6 | |
| Port oil berths and LPG jettyOffshore tanker terminal, LPG berth and inner-harbour oil wharves | Crude, petroleum products and chemicals run by pipeline from the berths to refinery tanks and tank farms. Where those runs are insulated, valve stations and flanges opened for maintenance need their insulation finished off. | DSZSFG0.6 | |
| Parawada thermal power beltCoal-fired super thermal power station, Anakapalli district | Boiler, main-steam and feed-water lines. A unit overhaul opens the insulation at valves, flanges and expansion joints, and the boiler is not lit until those are closed again. | DSZSFG0.6 | |
| Palavalasa coastal power plant1,040 MW coal-fired station, Pedagantyada mandal | Steam and auxiliary piping on a seawater-cooled site by the Bay of Bengal. Tape held in the plant store between outages has to stay dry so it is fit to use when the next outage starts. | DSZSFG0.6, stored dry | |
| JN Pharma City, ParawadaAPIIC pharmaceutical SEZ | Utility boiler houses sending steam to the production blocks. Steam traps, small-bore lines and valve necks are too small for cloth, so the narrow tape is used to finish them. | DSZSFG0.6 | |
| Ukkunagaram steel zoneIntegrated steel works, Gajuwaka | Steam and utility lines around the works and insulation detailing on hot equipment. Joints that run past 900 °C belong to ceramic fibre tape, not this one. | DSZSFG0.6; DSZCTP past 900 °C |
Check the design temperature of the line first. Our three Signature tapes split by temperature and surface, so the answer decides which one goes on the indent. Our guide to reading temperature ratings explains how to compare a listed range with your specification.
The joint runs inside 550 °C to 900 °C and the specification asks for a silicone-coated wrap, for example on oily or wet process lines.
The same listed range, but the surface is dry and the job needs a wider, uncoated band: 25 mm to 100 mm wide in 3 mm or 5 mm sections.
The joint runs above 900 °C, as in furnace and refractory work. It is listed at 1260 °C to 1760 °C.
A 25 mm tape wound with a one-third overlap advances about 16.7 mm per turn, so one 20 m roll covers roughly 0.33 m² of surface. Measure the outside of whatever you are wrapping, including any lagging, multiply by 3.14 and by the wrapped length to get the area, then divide by 0.33 for kilograms.
| Bare pipe | Outside diameter | Surface per metre | Tape per metre |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 inch line | 60.3 mm | 0.19 m² | about 0.6 kg |
| 4 inch line | 114.3 mm | 0.36 m² | about 1.1 kg |
| 6 inch line | 168.3 mm | 0.53 m² | about 1.6 kg |
| 8 inch line | 219.1 mm | 0.69 m² | about 2.1 kg |
| 10 inch line | 273.1 mm | 0.86 m² | about 2.6 kg |
Most turnaround tape goes on short bands at joints rather than long runs, so add up the wrapped length at each flange, valve and lagging end. Allow for waste at cut ends and round up to whole kilograms. Send the work list with your request and we will check the total on the quotation.
Five points in a turnaround or overhaul where the tape needs attention.
Step 1
Count the flanges, valves and lagging ends on the work list, convert them to kilograms and check what is already in the stores. Order the balance early enough that the tape is on site before the insulation is stripped.
Step 2
Look at the old tape as it is removed. Where the silicone face has cracked or worn through, or the weave is fraying at the ends, plan to replace that section rather than tape over it.
Step 3
Clean and dry the surface. Spiral the tape with each turn overlapping the last by about a third, keep the tension even and fix the ends by your site method, such as binding wire or lacing.
Step 4
Check that nothing oily or wet has gone onto the line. Tape that picked up oil or moisture can smoke as the line first heats up.
Step 5
Return unused rolls to a dry shelf off the floor, away from sharp edges, so they are fit for the next job.
Six details let us quote the tape for a whole shutdown, along with any ceramic or fiberglass tape for the same work list.
Every roll is made at our Ahmedabad factory and dispatched to the address on your order, whether that is a refinery store, a power-station site or a maintenance contractor. We have no branch, dealer or warehouse in Andhra Pradesh and make no delivery-time promises here. Give us the shutdown start date and the quotation will confirm dispatch.

Signature Insulation Tape DSZSFG0.6. It is a gray, silicone-coated fiberglass tape, 0.6 mm thick and 25 mm wide on a 20 m roll, with a listed working temperature of 550 °C to 900 °C. After flange and valve insulation has been stripped for inspection, the tape closes the joint and the cut ends of the lagging when it goes back on.
Each kilogram is one 25 mm × 20 m roll. Wrapped with each turn overlapping the last by about a third, a roll covers roughly one-third of a square metre. Work out the surface to wrap (outside diameter × 3.14 × wrapped length), divide by 0.33 and round up. As a guide, one metre of wrapped length at 168 mm outside diameter takes about 1.6 kg.
The silicone face copes with oil, moisture and handling better than plain fiberglass tape, which is one reason to choose it on process lines. Contamination still matters: a roll that has soaked up oil or water in store can smoke when the line first heats up. Wrap onto a clean, dry surface and keep rolls dry and off the floor.
No. It is silicone coated on a fiberglass base and listed at 550 °C to 900 °C. Ceramic fibre tape is a separate product, Signature Ceramic Fiber Tape (DSZCTP), listed at 1260 °C to 1760 °C. Write the product name and model on the indent so the two are not mixed up at the stores counter.
Signature Ceramic Fiber Tape. It is listed at 1260 °C to 1760 °C and made in 3 mm and 5 mm sections from 25 mm to 100 mm wide, for true furnace and refractory joints. Keep DSZSFG0.6 for duty inside 550 °C to 900 °C where your specification calls for a silicone-coated wrap.
No, it is not self-adhesive. Spiral it under steady tension so each turn beds down without gaps, then secure the ends by the method in your site insulation procedure, for example binding wire, lacing or overlap tension.
Keep them on a dry shelf, clear of the floor and of anything sharp that could cut the weave. Before a roll is issued to a crew, check it for tears, fraying or contamination, because a roll that has been sitting in store is more likely to have picked up moisture or oil.
Darshan Safety Zone is ISO 9001:2015 certified at company level. We do not claim hazardous-area approvals or product certifications for this tape beyond its listed specification. Tell us which documents your vendor registration or purchase order asks for, and we will confirm what we can provide before you order.
