Hyderabad bulk-drug estates and where the tape is used

Where the tape goes on a steam or process line
The tape finishes insulation rather than replacing it. Clean and dry the surface, then spiral the tape with each turn overlapping the last by about a third, keeping steady tension so there are no gaps or thin spots.
- Flange and valve joints
- Joints are where insulation gets opened. Wrap the gap between the flange and the lagging on each side so the joint does not become a hot spot once it is closed up again.
- Ends of pipe lagging
- Where lagging stops at a support, a nozzle or a fitting, a few turns of tape close the cut end and stop it working loose.
- Expansion gaps
- Gaps left for movement in hot lines still need covering. The tape bridges the gap without filling it solid.
- Small-bore lines and hot equipment detail
- Drains, vents, instrument tappings and the edges of equipment insulation are too small or awkward for cloth. A 25 mm tape follows the shape.
How many kilograms to order
The tape is sold by the kilogram, and each kilogram is one 25 mm × 20 m roll. At a one-third overlap, each turn moves about 16.7 mm along the pipe, so a metre of pipe takes about 60 turns. Multiply that by the pipe's circumference to get the tape needed per metre.

Insulation, fiberglass or ceramic tape?
We make three Signature tapes. Insulation tape and fiberglass tape share the same listed temperature but differ in coating and width. Ceramic fiber tape is a separate product for much hotter joints.

Which tape should a Pashamylaram or Bollaram maintenance crew order for re-wrapping flange joints?
Signature Insulation Tape DSZSFG0.6. It is the one listed build: silicone-coated, gray, 0.6 mm thick and 25 mm wide on a 20 m roll, with a listed working temperature of 550 °C to 900 °C. The narrow width suits flanges, valve necks and the ends of pipe lagging, where cloth would be too wide to wrap neatly.
Does the tape stick to the pipe on its own?
No. It is a wrap tape, not a peel-and-stick tape. Spiral it under tension and fix the ends the way your site method specifies, such as binding wire, lacing or overlap tension.
How many kilograms do we need for a pipe run?
Each 1 kg roll is 25 mm × 20 m. With each turn overlapping the last by about a third, one roll wraps roughly 3.5 m of pipe at 30 mm outside diameter, about 1.8 m at 60 mm and about 0.9 m at 115 mm. Add tape for flanges, valves and ends, then round up to whole kilograms.
Is this the same as ceramic fiber tape?
No. Signature Insulation Tape is silicone coated on a fiberglass base. Ceramic fiber tape is a different product in our Ceramic Products range, Signature Ceramic Fiber Tape (DSZCTP), listed at 1260 °C to 1760 °C. Order by product name so the two are not confused on a purchase order.
What does the listed 550 °C to 900 °C mean for our steam and process lines?
It is the working temperature listed for DSZSFG0.6, not a reading for your line. Check it against the design temperature in your insulation specification before you order. Our guide to reading temperature ratings explains what a listed range does and does not tell you.
When should we order Signature Fiberglass Tape instead?
When you want plain, uncoated tape in other widths for dry wrap work. Signature Fiberglass Tape (DSZFTP) comes in 25 mm to 100 mm widths in 3 mm and 5 mm sections, with the same listed 550 °C to 900 °C. The silicone face on the insulation tape copes better with oil, moisture and repeated handling.
Can we get a width other than 25 mm?
The listed build is 25 mm × 20 m at 0.6 mm. The product can be customised, so put your width, length and quantity on the quotation request and we will confirm what we can make before you order.
How should the rolls be stored in a plant engineering store?
Dry, off the floor and away from sharp edges. Tape that has picked up oil or moisture in store can smoke when the line first heats up. Before issuing a roll, check it for tears, fraying or contamination.
When should tape on a hot line be replaced?
When the silicone face is cracked or worn through, or the weave is fraying at the cut ends. Strip the damaged section and re-wrap it rather than taping over the top on a hot line.
