Signature silicon fire blankets · Mumbai, Thane & Navi Mumbai

Silicon fire blankets for hot work in Mumbai's chemical belts and refinery shutdowns

Hot work in a Taloja reactor bay or a Mahul–Trombay turnaround needs two kinds of blanket: covers over the equipment next to the cutting and grinding, and a piece kept with the fire-watch. The Signature Silicon Fire Blanket comes in eight DSZSFG thicknesses for both jobs. We cut each piece to the length and width you order and dispatch it from our Ahmedabad factory.

For fire-watch stock that is rarely handled

The uncoated Signature Fire Blanket is the simpler choice when a blanket mostly waits on a hook or in a cabinet rather than going down on hot work.

Chemical estates and the refinery belt around Mumbai

Most of the region's chemical hot work happens in MIDC estates north and east of the city, from the Thane–Belapur road to Taloja, Dombivli and Ambernath, plus the refinery belt at Chembur. How the blanket is handled differs from one to the next, and that decides the model.

Cover on the job, and a blanket for the fire-watch

The same product does both jobs, but not the same piece. A cover gets dirty and worn during the job. The fire-watch blanket should be clean and ready when it is needed.

Cover on the job

  • Laid over pumps, motors, valves, instruments and floors near cutting and grinding
  • Heavier builds, DSZSFG1.0 to DSZSFG2.0, as the job gets longer or the grinding heavier
  • Sized to the footprint it covers, with length and width entered in metres
  • Both-side coating when crews turn covers over between jobs

Kept with the fire-watch

  • A separate piece kept clean, folded and ready at the permit point
  • A lighter build such as DSZSFG0.6 that one person can carry
  • Red or black, so it can be found quickly in a busy plant
  • Used as your site's hot-work procedure directs

All eight DSZSFG models and where each fits

More thickness means more GSM between the sparks and what is underneath. Every model comes in grey, red or black with single- or both-side coating. Our guide on how to choose a fire blanket covers material and size in more depth.

Every model is sold per piece. Enter the length and width in metres on the product page and the blanket is supplied at that size; 1 × 2 m is only the reference format. Choose both-side coating when either face may end up taking the sparks.

Silicon, plain or welding blanket?

A fire blanket is not made for sustained welding spatter or running slag. Our welding blanket vs fire blanket guide explains where one stops and the other starts.

Keeping blankets usable through the monsoon

Between shutdowns, store blankets dry, flat or loosely rolled, and avoid sharp folds that can crack the coating along a crease. Before each use, look over the coated face and the fabric for burns, holes or coating damage. A blanket with a broken coating protects less than it appears to, so retire it.

What to send for a Mumbai quotation

With these five details we can quote covers and fire-watch pieces for a whole shutdown on one quotation.

Role
Cover on the job, fire-watch pieces, or both, and the shutdown or job it is for.
Model
A DSZSFG model from 0.4 to 2.0, or the role, if you would like us to suggest one.
Colour and coating
Grey, red or black, with single-side or both-side coating.
Sizes
Length × width in metres for each piece, with the quantity of each size.
Delivery address and date
The plant or stores address in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai or Raigad, and the shutdown start date.

From our Ahmedabad factory to MMR plants

We cut each blanket to your sizes in Ahmedabad and dispatch it to the plant or stores address on the order. There is no branch, dealer or warehouse in Maharashtra, and we do not promise delivery times here. Include the shutdown start date and the quotation will confirm dispatch.

When the job needs a welding blanket

Add these to the same quotation for the parts of a shutdown with sustained welding or gas cutting.

Frequently asked questions

Answers for Mumbai-region chemical, refinery and plant-maintenance teams ordering Signature silicon fire blankets.

Which DSZSFG model should a Taloja or TTC chemical-plant crew lay over equipment during a shutdown?

Start with DSZSFG1.0 (1.0 mm, 970 GSM) or DSZSFG1.2 (1.2 mm, 1200 GSM), both listed at 650 °C to 900 °C. If the cover will lie under grinding or overhead work for the whole shutdown, go to DSZSFG1.5 or DSZSFG2.0, which put more mass between the sparks and the pump, motor or valve underneath.

Should the fire-watch keep its own blanket, separate from the cover on the job?

It is better that way. A cover laid on equipment picks up dirt and wear during the job, while the piece kept with the fire-watch should stay clean, folded and ready to use. A lighter model that one person can carry, such as DSZSFG0.6, suits that role, and red or black makes it easier to find.

Is the silicon fire blanket resistant to the chemicals handled in our plant?

We do not list any chemical-resistance rating for this product. Its listed specification covers thickness, weight, colour, single- or both-side coating and a working temperature of 650 °C to 900 °C (550 °C to 900 °C for DSZSFG0.4). Whether it can be used near a particular chemical is a decision for your process-safety and EHS teams.

Does buying this blanket meet our hot-work permit or fire-safety requirements?

We do not claim that the blanket meets any fire code or product standard. Darshan Safety Zone is ISO 9001:2015 certified at company level. How many blankets the permit needs, and where they go, is set by your site's hot-work procedure.

When should a Mahul–Trombay refinery turnaround use a welding blanket instead?

When the cover will sit under sustained welding spatter, gas cutting or running slag rather than sparks and light grinding. That is welding-blanket work: the Signature Medium Duty Welding Blanket DSZMDWB2.4, listed at 900 °C to 1000 °C, or the heavy DSZVCF range, listed at 1260 °C to 1760 °C.

How do we size a blanket to cover a pump skid or a valve station?

Measure the footprint you need to cover, add enough to drape down the sides, and enter the length and width in metres on the product page. Each blanket is supplied at that size and sold per piece. The 1 × 2 m in the specification is only the reference format.

How should blankets be stored through the Mumbai monsoon?

Keep them dry, laid flat or loosely rolled, and avoid sharp folds, which can crack the coating along the crease. Before each use, check the coated face and the fabric for burns, holes or coating damage, and retire any blanket where the coating is broken.

Single-side or both-side coating for shutdown crews?

Single-side coating is enough for a cover that always goes on with the same face up. When several contractor crews handle the same blankets and nobody checks which way up they go, both-side coating means either face can take the sparks.

Why choose the silicon blanket over the plain Signature Fire Blanket?

The plain Signature Fire Blanket is uncoated white E-glass and suits fire-watch stock that is rarely handled. The silicon range adds a coated face that holds up better to oil, moisture and repeated handling, so it is the better choice for covers that go down on hot work again and again.

Do you have a branch or stock in Mumbai or Navi Mumbai?

No. We make Signature silicon fire blankets at our factory in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and dispatch them to the plant or stores address on your order in Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai or Raigad. We have no branch, dealer or warehouse in Maharashtra, and the quotation confirms dispatch for your order.
